Welcome to She Who Grinds

Hi! I’m Mel, founder and creative director of She Who Grinds. I teach and coach everyday women, how to build aspiring careers, without compromising their femininity in the workplace. In the past 10 years, I’ve received so many inquiries from everyday women, (that look like myself) seeking and craving the secret to career success, without becoming the next Girl Boss or Entrepreneur. No shade to being a Girl Boss, that’s actually one of my favorite books, I loved in my 20s. There’s nothing wrong with aspiring to become a Girl Boss, Entrepreneur, CEO, or a Corporate Tycoon. I am a firm believer in finding a happy medium between being a ‘Girl Boss’ without losing sight of your inner feminine. The women I meet, and known personally, are usually only seeking to earn a bit more income, than they currently make. I can only speak from my own experiences and observations; and I believe a woman can have a successful career, in her own right, and still can embody all aspects of femininity.

I began resume writing for my millennial peers, when I was a Grad School student. I was always taught having a clean. easy to read, engaging resume, was key to grabbing the attention of HR Hiring Managers by Career Influencers. Most of the the clients, I worked with all reported receiving call backs for job interviews, and landing higher paying jobs/careers, than their previous employers. As a young professional, I learned savvy career tactics, which helped other professionals

Most women, I’ve worked with and know personally, do not wish to climb the corporate ladder, if it meant surrendering and compromising their femininity. She Who Grinds focuses on being a woman who can wear many hats, or can roll up her sleeves to work, while doing it all in a dress or skirt. She Who Grinds can be broken down into the acronym of S.W.G., and the meaning behind each initial in the phrase, is near and dear to me. The phrase literally melts my heart!

S - SUCCESS

W - WELLNESS

G - GROWTH

The 3 core principles, of She Who Grinds, are Success, Wellness, and Growth. Being successful can apply to almost any area of life, and most people will continuously strive for excellence, in a particular goal. You can’t incubate success without honing in on your wellness and self care first! Just because you may like to work hard, doesn’t mean you have to neglect your true essence of nurturance, the ability to become softer person. I believe a woman should be well rested in her femininity. I would like to share a quote by James E. Faust:

Femininity is not just lipstick, stylish hairdos, and trendy clothes. It is the divine adornment of humanity. It finds expression in your qualities of your capacity to love your spirituality, delicacy, radiance, sensitivity, creativity, charm, graciousness, gentleness, dignity, and quiet strength. - James E. Faust

The She Who Grinds blog will cover careers, femininity, how to self care + self love, and wellness. In the next series of posts, we will dig deeper into the topic and connection between femininity and careers. Welcome to the SWG Blog Family!
